To get the most out of your swimming, you have to make sure that you’re doing it properly. Thankfully, the expert swimmers and swim instructors at B&C Aquatics have compiled a list that will help you do just that! Here are a couple of things you need to know before you jump into swimming.
Make Sure You Stretch
Stretching warms up and loosens your muscles, which will help to protect your body from injuries. Adding this little step to your swimming routine will save you from a potentially serious injury/ painful moment in the future.
Breathe Through Your Nose
It is super important to make sure that you breathe correctly when you’re swimming! That means always exhaling slowly when your face is underwater and inhaling when you come out of the water. Don’t worry too much about that last part though. Your body will naturally breathe once you break the water’s surface!
Use Your Whole Body
You can’t stay afloat by using your arms alone! Ensure that you use the power in your legs to keep yourself afloat better and longer!
Speed drills can help your body get used to swimming at a very fast pace. Not only is it good to build endurance, but speed drills double as a great form of exercise! Get in that cardio!
Practicing as often as you can help you to become the best swimmer possible. Knowing how to swim well means that you are less likely to injure yourself, others, and have the most amount of fun!
If you haven’t noticed yet, swimming is not only fun, but it is super beneficial. As long as you make sure that you practice it in a safe manner, there is absolutely no downfall to this superior sport!
