Although pools are a fun way to stay active and cool down in the summer heat, pools and other bodies of water can be a dangerous place if water safety actions, behaviours, and rules aren’t applied or followed. Make sure that your child is water safe and ready to enjoy their time in the water by using the following tips:

Supervision
Ensure that the area that your child swims in is constantly guarded. This can be either by you, other adults, or lifeguards.

Life jackets and Flotation Devices
If your child does not know how to swim, strap on a life jacket and give them plenty of flotation devices to hang onto. Flotation devices will not only will this keep them safe, but also will entertain them as fun pool toys.

Communication
Children are smart and resourceful. Take the time to talk to your children about water danger and how they can avoid it,the importance of being careful in it, and strategies to stay safe. The more aware they are, the better.

Swim Lessons
Water safety is all about prevention. The best way to prevent water danger is to register your child for swim lessons. There they will be taught how to swim and be water safe. The more aware they are of how to conduct themselves in water, the less likely they will be to drown.

At B&C Aquatics, we take water safety very seriously. Our main goal is to ensure that all of our students come out of their lessons with more knowledge and skills about water safety than before.
