4 Swimming Goals for the New Year

Swimming Goals for the New Year

With 2018 come and gone and the welcoming of 2019, it’s a great time to set personal swimming goals to strive to achieve in the New Year. That’s why we have put together a list of 4 measurable goals that you or your child can set for this year to continue to improve your swimming in 2019!

Get in the Pool More Often

The best way to improve your swimming is to do it as often as you can! That’s why a great goal to set this year is to increase the amount of times you get into the pool to practice. Set a number of times per month that you’d like to get into the pool and strive to hit that amount each month. This way, you have a measurable goal that you can track and see how you are progressing as the year goes on.

Improve Speed

Speed is something that all swimmers strive for, and makes for a great goal in 2019. Pull out a stop watch and time your starting speed at the beginning of this year and keep track month by month on how it is progressing. Since speed is easily measured, set time improvements that you’d like to hit each month to track your improvements!

Learn New Techniques

With many different strokes and techniques you can use in the pool, make it a goal to learn a few new techniques in the New Year. Practice the movements and incorporating good form and watch as you become a master of different swimming strokes as the year goes on!

Improve Conditioning

Many people make a New Year’s resolution to improve their health and conditioning, which has huge benefits for swimming. Working on cardio and conditioning will help to improve your performance in the pool and increase endurance. Make it a goal to incorporate some cardio training into your weekly routine in 2019 and watch as your swimming improves because of it!
